Abstract
Granular, particulate, micro-structured materials are widely spread and one of the challenges is to find proper macroscopic, continuum constitutive relations that describe their behavior under different deformation conditions. The present study involves materials that have a micro-structure that is anisotropic and considerably changing during any deformation. This requires to involve not only stress-strain relations but also constitutive relations for the evolution of the micro-structure and its anisotropy.
Several deformation modes will be compared and some mechanical flow phenomena will be discussed, involving dilatancy, shear-band localisation, critical state yield etc.
