RESEARCH PROFILE

Melvin Drent is an Assistant Professor within the Operations, Planning, Accounting, and Control research group at the department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences. His research focuses on decision-making under uncertainty broadly, and in particular using data-driven approaches in the context of supply chain management, manufacturing operations, and after-sales services. Much of this research is in close collaboration with industry. His research has been published in journals such as Manufacturing & Service Operations Management and European Journal of Operational Research.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Melvin Drent received a B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering in 2015 and an M.Sc. degree in Operations Management and Logistics in 2017. Both were obtained Cum Laude from Eindhoven University of Technology. He carried out his Ph.D. research (2017-2021) at the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management of the University of Luxembourg. During his Ph.D. research, he was a visiting scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
