RESEARCH PROFILE
Pei Zhang is a doctoral candidate in the Stimuli-responsive Functional Materials and Devices (SFD) group under the supervision of Prof. Albert Schenning. She works on cholesteric liquid crystal polymers for making optical sensors, temperature responsive reflective coatings and photonic actuators.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Pei received her Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Materials and Engineering at the Shanghai University of Engineering Science in 2016, after which she moved to South China Normal University in Guangzhou and started her master under the supervisor of Prof. Guofu Zhou and Dr. Laurens de Haan, which she successfully completed in 2019 with a master thesis on “Stimuli responsive photonic coatings based on main chain liquid crystal oligomers”. She spent 6 months in the Stimuli-responsive Functional Materials and Devices (SFD) group at the Eindhoven University of Technology to do a research internship under the supervision of Prof. Albert Schenning and Stijn Kragt from November 2017 to May 2018. Since September 2019 she works as a doctoral candidate in the SFD group.
