Urban Physics
Contact: Bert Blocken
Urban environmental modeling from meso-scale to micro-scale. Micro-scale is defined as horizontal distances less than 5 km and includes the outdoor urban environment, the indoor environment of buildings and the building envelope that separates outdoor and indoor environment. Processes of interest in the outdoor environment are air pollution aerodynamics, heat transfer and hydrology (rainfall interception and distribution), for outdoor air quality, urban heat islands and flood resistance. Processes of interest in the indoor environment and building envelope are: heat and mass transfer indoor and in porous building materials, including indoor air quality, natural ventilation etc.
