RESEARCH PROFILE
Bauke de Vries is Chair of Information Systems in the Built Environment (ISBE) group, and Full Professor and in the Department of the Built Environment at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His PhD thesis entitled ‘Communication in the building industry: a strategy for implementing electronic information exchange’ is an early contribution to academic field of Building Information Modelling. Other areas of expertise are: Systems Engineering, City Information Modeling, and process modeling. Recently, he has been deeply involved in Smart Cities research and development.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Bauke de Vries obtained his MSc and PhD at TU/e in 1985 and 1996 respectively. He was Vice-Dean of department of the Built Environment from 2011 to 2019. He is scientific director of the TU/e Smart Cities program, and a member of the project team Brainport Smart District.
Bauke is author of over 100 publications presented at international conferences and published in international journals. He is vice-president of CAADFutures, editiorial board member of ITCon, CUMINCAD, IJEPR and conference reviewer of DCC, eCAADE, SIGraDi, CAADRIA, ACADIA, CIB-W78, DDSS, ISARC, ISG, In addition, Bauke is a reviewer for eleven leading international architectural journals. He has been partner is the following externally funded projects: UNALAB (2017-2022, €1.4m); ROCK (2017-2020, € 1.1m), Triangulum (2015-2020, €6.4m); iLocate (2014-2016, €4.7m); DuraArc (2013-2016, €3.7m).
