RESEARCH PROFILE

Deon Janse van Rensburg started as a doctoral candidate at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2021. He is part of the KAT-1 Sr quantum computing team. His research is mostly focused on constructing a system which uses optical tweezers to trap arrays of single rubidium atoms. These arrays of atoms will be used for hybrid quantum computing experiments.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Deon obtained his MSc in Physics degree from Stellenbosch University. For this degree he performed his research in the Trapped ion quantum control group at Stellenbosch University and his thesis was titled "Laser Frequency Stabilization for Trapped Yb+ experiments".
