RESEARCH PROFILE
Dr Dury Bayram is an Assistant Professor at the Eindhoven School of Education (ESoE), Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). She holds a bachelor degree in physics teaching from Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey. She worked for 10 years as a physics & science teacher at secondary schools in Turkey. She has worked as a principal investigator and researcher on various local and EU projects and serves as a chair of the External Policy and Relations Committee at NARST. Her research interests are; Socio-scientific Issues (SSI), science education for citizenship, pedagogy of physics, Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) of physics/science teachers, formative evaluation of SSI lessons, and innovation in education.
How science can serve society? How socio-scientific reasoning happens? How can we educate students to make informed decisions and act as responsible citizens? I am fascinated by searching for answers to these questions.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Dury Bayram, prior to her appointment at TU/e, worked at Radboud University Department of Science Education (2016 - April 2020) and at TU Delft Department of Science Education and Communication (2013 – 2016). Previously she lived and worked in Ankara/Turkey at Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences (2005-2010) as a researcher and teacher educator. She received her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialisation in professional development of physics and science teachers, and a master degree, with a concentration in comparative research in initial teacher training of science teachers, from Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences.
