RESEARCH PROFILE
Floor Alkemade is a Full Professor and Chair of Economics and Governance of Technological Innovation at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Her key areas of expertise include innovation, cleantech and sustainability. Floor’s research goal is to identify the general and the location-specific mechanisms that lead to successful innovations for sustainability. Together with a group of PhD students, Floor uses data-driven and simulation approaches to analyze innovation for sustainability at different scales. Examples are the behavior electric vehicle owners in smart grids and, the eco-innovation capacities of countries.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Floor Alkemade is full professor Economics and Governance of Technological Innovation. She received an ERC Consolidator grant (2022), a Vidi grant (2014) and a Veni grant (2008) to work on research projects on innovation for sustainability. Previously she was affiliated with the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University and the Dutch National Centre for Mathematics and Computer Science (CWI).
Floor Alkemade received her PhD in Agent Based Evolutionary Economics, from TU/e in 2004. Her PhD work was done at the Dutch National Centre for Mathematics and Computer Science (CWI). She holds an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from VU University Amsterdam. After her PhD she joined the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University. Floor is associate editor of the Journal of Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions. In 2015 she joined the Technological, Innovation and Society group at TU/e.
