Jorge Duarte

RESEARCH PROFILE

Jorge Duarte is Lecturer in the Electromechanics and Power Electronics group of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His goal is to analyse and develop electrical power conversion systems with a focus on improved energy efficiency.

Duarte’s teaching and research interests include modeling, simulation and design optimization of power electronic systems, with a focus on control of grid-interactive power converters. He is also interested in specialized topics in electromagnetism, such as the assesment of forces in permanent-magnet devices.

Since October 2000, Duarte has regularly been an engineering consultant in the field of power electronic amplifiers for several high tech companies in the Eindhoven region, especially at Heliox BV in nearby Best.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Jorge Duarte received his MSc degree in 1980 from the University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and his PhD degree in 1985 from the National Polytechnic Institute of Lorraine-Nancy (France). Duarte has been with Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) as a Lecturer (UD) since 1988.
