Former Doctoral Candidate

Rinus Hoogesteger

Rinus Hoogesteger works as a Ph.D. candidate in the Dynamics and Control group within the Mechanical Engineering department. The aim of his research is to investigate the performance and resolution of subsurface scanning probe microscopy. Focusing on the inherently nonlinear dynamics of the probe-tip-sample system, the potential for measurements beyond those obtainable with current linear state-of-the art techniques is studied. This is achieved through a combination of theoretical analysis, numerical models, and experiments.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Rinus Hoogesteger studied Mechanical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology, where he received his MSc (cum laude) in 2018 with a thesis titled: “Huygens’ Synchronization with Multivariable Coupling”. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology under the supervision of prof.dr. Henk Nijmeijer and dr. Hamed Sadeghian.
