What are microcredentials?
If you want to continue learning and developing as a professional, then you are looking for flexible and high-quality education. From now, you can join short courses (3-10 EC, 1 EC = 28 hours) at several European universities of science and technology within the EuroTeQ collaboration. The certificate you obtain with these courses is called a "microcredential". This is a recognized digital certificate with which you can show everyone what knowledge and skills you have achieved and at which level. And if you continue your learning path after this, a microcredential can in some cases even grant you an exemption in a full bachelor or master program.
EuroTeQ Focus
Within EuroTeQ, microcredentials serve as a vehicle for flexible and extra-curricular learning offers that:
- address competences that go beyond the typical core curricula,
- provide insights into the essence of other disciplines creating a basis for transdisciplinary cooperation or
- lay the basis for collaboratively handling societal challenges,
- link technical aspects with entrepreneurial or business competencies or
- address a cross-cutting theme that is potentially relevant for various disciplines.
Who are microcredentials for?
Microcredentials are offered by educational institutions to professionals who wish to develop themselves further, which can be done at several levels. One of the quality requirements of a microcredential is that the level of the course is clearly indicated, so you can easily choose a course that suits your prior knowledge, level and motivation. For example, microdentials could be interesting for professionals who:
- Just finished a degree, but wish to broaden their knowledge without the time and money investment of a full degree
- Finished a degree a couple of years ago and wish to broaden or deepen their knowledge of a specific subject
- Wish to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in technology
How do microcredentials work?
The learning experience is awarded by official universities with ECTS, might be stackable and envisaged to be granted in a digital wallet (unique certificate). You apply at a specific EuroTeQ university for a microcredential offer. Please note that for professional participants, costs may apply.
