RESEARCH PROFILE

Raquel Alves is a Doctoral Candidate in the Electronic Systems group at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).

She is working on the UMOSA project (Unobtrusive Monitoring of Sleep Apnea) under the supervision of dr. Sander Stuijk, dr. Mark van Gastel, and dr. Sveta Zinger in collaboration with Philips Research and the Kempenhaeghe sleeping center.

Her work is based on the use of thermal cameras to monitor respiration rate and detect sleep apnea in a clinical setting.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Raquel Alves finished the integrated masters’ degree (B.Sc + M.Sc) in Bioengineering, with a specialization in Biomedical Engineering, from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal in 2020.

Currently, she is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Electronic Systems group at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).

Her research interests include healthcare technology, cameras-based solutions, and signal processing.
