8TA00 - Cell and tissue
Contents
Lectures about cells, cytoskeleton, intracellular organs, tissue composition in general, and the structure and function of some mechanically loaded tissues. Guided self-education to evaluate the study material more thoroughly. Three practical sessions: microscopy, histology and dissection lab.
Learning objectives
- Obtain basic knowledge with regard to cells, the cytoskeleton and intracellular organelles, and about various cell types.
- Develop understanding with regard to the relationship between cell phenotype and particular cell functions.
- Obtain basic knowledge with regard to structure and constitution of tissues in general, and mechanically loaded tissues in particular.
- Develop understanding with regard to the relationship between the constitution and structure of (mechanically loaded) tissues, and the principal (mechanical) function of these tissues.
