The Medical Engineering Master’s program trains you to become a medical engineer. Modern technology is an inseparable part of clinical practice. Doctors make use of modern equipment and advanced techniques to diagnose, treat and operate on patients. Consider for example MRI-scanners or (regenerative) implants. A medical engineer is often the interface between hospitals, academic research and the business community. You work within a team with the patient top of mind, developing and implementing medical techniques in a clinical environment. This implies that you can work not only in a hospital, but also in business organizations or research institutes.

Medical Engineering at TU/e: does that grab you?

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) offers this master’s program together with the University of Maastricht and the Maastricht University Medical Center+ (MUMC+). You regularly work in a hospital during this master’s program. While following clinical modules at the MUMC+ you learn how to work together – and how to communicate – with clinical specialists.

You will develop engineering skills such as model-driven problem solving and learn to design, conduct and evaluate scientific experiments. In addition, you will learn how to assess patient data and apply the best technological solutions for the patient.

During this master, you learn how to work together in multidisciplinary teams and discover how healthcare is organized in general. Moreover, you pay particular attention to the ‘human’ aspects of your vocation – exploring the societal consequences and the ethics of what you are doing.

Because this program is partially taught in Dutch, a Dutch language requirement applies in addition to the English language requirement.
