Departmental Board

The departmental board is responsible for the overall management of the department. That includes organizing and managing the department, determining the educational and research programs, regulations and monitoring the implementation of departmental programs. The departmental board determines the strategy and policy in the fields of research, education and knowledge transfer in interaction with the scientific content owners.

The departmental board consists of four members. The dean is president and is assisted by a vice dean (academic staff member) and the Managing Director. The program Director Bachelor, coordinator Graduate Program and a student representative are advisory members.

Board of Advice

The board of advice consist of nine members, all of which are not employed at the department. The board gives advice to the departmental board on policy regarding the responsibilities of the department.

Department Council

The department council of Biomedical Engineering is the participation council for staff and students of this department of Eindhoven University of Technology. The department council consists of both representatives from staff and students. The council advises the department board on education, research, policy, decision-making and budgeting. The council also has the right of consent with regard to a number of matters.

The department council exercises the right of consent and the right of advice to the university council and the department board of the department, in matters that concern the department in particular.

Support services

The units below support the Departmental Board and the Biomedical Engineering research groups to perform their tasks. On the departmental intranet pages, you can find more information about the organization of BmE.

Departmental Office

The departmental office supports the processes surrounding education, research and valorization with the disciplines of personnel policy, finance, ICT, communication, accommodation, legal affairs, health & safety and environment, and internal affairs. The secretary completes the picture. The office is led by the managing director whose responsibilities cover the entire business operation within the department.

Team ESA Biomedical Engineering

Team ESA Biomedical Engineering is responsible for the organization and quality of the education of the department, covering the bachelor's program Biomedical Engineering with the two majors Biomedical Engineering and Medical Sciences and Technology, and the master's programs Biomedical Engineering and Medical Engineering (incl. the master's tracks Regenerative Medicine and Technology and Medical Imaging). The institute ensures a well regulated curriculum, the study timetable, the evaluation and improvement of the subjects as well as the organization and coordination of the education.

The educational board comprises an Program Director, a Manager team ESA BME, Graduate Program Director Life Sciences and Engineering, a coordinator Bachelor, a coordinator Graduate Program, a academic advisors, a coordinator international office and a study information officer.

Specialized Research IT  

IMS Research IT delivers research project support from an IT perspective. For all requests and domain specific cases where the underlying IT challenge is somewhat complex, you may contact the Research IT team or the BmE research IT support (both links go to the TU/e intranet pages)
