Dear member,
Do you have important writing projects, but difficulty finding the time to work on them? WISE is organizing a supported virtual writing retreat for members – Use this form to submit your expression of interest!
Research has shown that while carving out time and focus for writing papers and funding proposals is a challenge for all academics, it is particularly challenging for female academics with caring responsibilities. Writing papers and grants is however a very important activity for career progression. As we did last year, WISE would like to support our members to work on their personal writing projects by facilitating a WISE virtual writing retreat.
Set-up of the retreat
The 'set-up’ consists a one-week (virtual) writing retreat with a group of female TU/e scientific staff. It will be mostly intended as a personal writing space, which, along with a day’s structure and rules, supports you to get your personal writing project done. Depending on amount of interest and availability, the retreat will take place in week 24, 25 or 26.
The general structure consist of two writing sessions per day: 9:00 - 12:30 and 13:30 - 17:00. Each session starts with a brief round of writing intentions for the session and includes several breaks with opportunity to exchange frustrations, achievements and tips.
Expressions of interest
Commitment is essential for the format of this course, as well as for your own success, so we require participants to express their motivation to join, and to be present for at least 5 sessions (50%), and definitely for the opening session on the Monday. We aim for a group size of max. 10-12 participants to ensure group cohesion. If interest is greater we might make several groups.
If you are interested to join then please fill out this form by 19 May. Notifications of acceptance and the exact dates of the retreat will be sent out in the week of 24 May. Participants will need to submit a writing plan one week before the start of the retreat.
